Santa Cruz, CA – November 14, 2018 – Looker, a leading data platform company, today announced that it achieved 23 top ranks and 39 leading positions across five different peer groups in the Business Application Research Centre (BARC) The BI Survey 18. This is Looker’s inaugural appearance in the report, which is the world's largest and most comprehensive survey of business intelligence software users with over 3,000 respondents on 36 BI solutions.

Vendors are rated across 30 key performance indicators (KPIs) in specific peer groups, defined by BARC analysts according to usage scenario and regional focus. Across its five peer groups of EMEA-focused vendors, Americas-focused vendors, embedded analytics-focused vendors, dashboarding-focused products and self-service reporting-focused products, Looker is consistently top-ranked in the areas of Business Value, Business Benefits and Self-Service.

Additional key highlights from the report include:

  • Recommendation: 97% of surveyed users say they would recommend Looker.
  • Business Value: Looker receives a maximum score of 10/10 in the ‘Business benefits’ KPI, one of the most important KPIs in The BI Survey.
  • Self-service: Another perfect 10/10 rating for ‘Self-service’ KPI. Looker’s virtual metadata layer makes it relatively easy for business users to query and visualize data.
  • 39 leading positions: Looker is recognized as a leader in several categories within its peer groups including customer satisfaction, successful implementations (project success), operational Bi, flexibility and many more.

“We are thrilled with the results of BARC’s The BI Survey 18, not only because Looker is included for the first time but because they are based on direct feedback from our customers,” said John O’Keeffe, VP of EMEA at Looker. “At Looker, we are committed to delivering a data platform that empowers users while being scalable to the ever-changing needs of a business. Our top-rankings by our customers for business value, business benefits and self-service across the board, further underscores that we’re delivering on this commitment.”

“Looker appears for the first time in this year’s BI Survey and scores incredible results in a number of categories, especially impressive are the business value the product delivers to its customers and the speed and success rate of Looker projects,” said Larissa Baier, Senior Analyst at BARC.
