Diversity, equity & inclusion

At Looker, we believe people are at the core of everything we do. We strive to provide an excellent customer experience and create a workplace our employees are proud to be a part of. We are committed to creating a diverse environment with a strong culture of belonging. Our success in this endeavor, relies on regularly evaluating and improving our daily processes, as well as the engagement of every Looker.

A focus on diversity is not about replacing voices, it’s about giving voice to more people. We define diversity as “the existence of multiple social identities and lived experiences in society or a space.” For Looker, this includes age, sexual orientation, ability status, marital or family status, religious affiliation, race, veteran status, gender identity, gender expression, political affiliation, citizenship, socioeconomic status, educational attainment, genetic information, and any other legally protected status.

Be open.

There are so many ways to view and navigate the world. We want to build an environment that provides opportunities for people to grow, learn, and be open to viewpoints different than their own.

Be engaged.

Creating a diverse workplace and a strong culture of belonging requires all of us to do our part. Every Looker brings something to the table that aides in our success.

Be supportive.

It is important that we support each other as we all learn our role in creating a workplace where everyone can show up authentically and their lived experiences honored.

Looker institute

At Looker, we are all about providing our employees with the skills needed to sustain a culture of belonging. This program provides multiple seminars focusing on various topics and creating space for dialogue throughout the company.

Looker stories

Storying-telling is a major part of maintaining a culture where everyone can be their authentic selves. Looker Stories provides a space for us to share our story, challenge our assumptions, and get to know one another below the surface.

Looker pride

This program is all about celebrating what makes each Looker unique while also building bridges between what we have in common. When employees feel celebrated at work, they are more engaged and experiences a stronger sense of belonging.

Looker groups

Our Looker Groups, commonly known as employee resource groups or ERGs, help Lookers from various identities build community at work. These groups also create opportunities for community to be built between identity groups and develop deeper relationships throughout the company.

Why does DEI matter?

This is a fundamental question every organization must answer for itself. Here at Looker, we go even further and ensure our employees understand how diversity, equity, and inclusion impacts our work and relationships with our customers. Here’s what some of them have to say.

“DEI matters because the very best ideas arise from a melting pot of different angles, from different perspectives, rooted in different backgrounds. As well, Looker’s incredibly fun culture is a product of our strong DEI foundation.”

Rafael Jara-Simkin

Director of Sales

Looker since 2013

“To me DEI is about cultivating a culture where everyone, including people with diverse backgrounds and identities, can thrive. Efforts at DEI can foster interesting conversations and connections companywide that facilitate organic friendships and more productive teams.“

Yemi Getahun-Berger

Senior Commercial Counsel

Looker since 2018

“A big part of Looker’s success stems from our access to cities and communities with diversity of backgrounds, thought, and experience. Prioritizing DEI enables us to act on our responsibility to reflect these inclusive values as a company, and to exercise the privilege of shaping our industry and the society of which we are a part."

Jean Louise Manalo
