Google (Looker) named a Challenger in the Gartner 2021 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms

In an environment as dynamic and rapidly evolving as the BI and analytics platform market, the release of the annual Gartner Research Magic Quadrant is always highly anticipated. This report plays an integral role in helping companies understand the current market landscape and deciding which vendors are best suited to meet their needs. This is true in a typical year, but it is even more critical this year as companies search for modern data and analytics products to help them rapidly transform their businesses in response to the disruptions that impacted every industry across the globe in 2020.

Today, we’re proud and very excited to announce that Google (Looker) has been recognized in the Gartner 2021 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms1 for the fourth year running and has been named a Challenger for the second straight year. The BI and analytics platform market is in a constant state of change and evolution, which creates both opportunities and challenges for vendors trying to differentiate from the competition. This year is no exception as Gartner notes in the report that the once-disruptive force of data visualization is now considered a commodity that vendors no longer differentiate on. Looker’s differentiation continues to be our modeling layer-enabled data platform designed to deliver a broad range of data experiences, including data visualization and exploration, to a diverse community of users.

We are truly excited by Looker’s 2021 product roadmap as well as the opportunities it will unlock for our customers as we leverage more of Google Cloud’s innovative services through native integrations with the Looker platform. Of course, customers can also expect that both Looker and Google Cloud remain committed to our multicloud product strategy and will continue to build integrations with other public cloud ecosystems.
